Interculturality

The Centre Placet organises community activities throughout the year. Workshops for discussion and reflection are organised around themes linked to interculturality : conferences, film debates, exhibitions and various expression workshops (slam, plastic arts, writing, street art, etc.) co-constructed with the participants as part of an intercultural approach.

Inclusion

The workshops on inclusiveness aim to analyse the mechanisms of exclusion, in order to counter them and encourage greater inclusiveness on the Louvain-La-Neuve campus and at the university, particularly during the 'Interculturality' workshop. From these reflections have emerged the Communauté Métisse and Duo For Knowledge

Coloniality

These discussion workshops question the power relationships inherited from the colonial period. The themes to be addressed are identified with the participants : the way in which history is taught here and "elsewhere", questions of restitution/repair, the underlying logic of "development", the notions of "South" and "North" and the stereotypes associated with them, and so on. The workshops are punctuated by visits, meetings and discussions with guest speakers.

It is in this context that Independence Day is co-constructed with the participants. It takes place every year in June during Intercultural Week. These workshops invite you to work together to build a more egalitarian world.

Genders

The gender workshops are an opportunity for us to share our experiences of discrimination, particularly on the basis of gender, and to use this as a starting point for tools such as the intersectional reading grid. Together, we will examine the way in which the perception of gender comes into play in cultural clashes. The workshops are punctuated by creative workshops and awareness-raising activities for the general public, co-constructed with the participants. In particular, we are organising a participatory exhibition on gender during the week of 8th March.

Interfaith dialogue

With a view to questioning and taking action to improve living together in the town of Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, a group of participants of different convictions, believers and non-believers, meet several times a year with various people active on the site. Various activities are organised within this framework, such as the "diversity walk".

On request, the Centre Placet organises a variety of workshops to raise awareness and provide food for thought for people wishing to take part in collective, civic and solidarity-based action to combat discrimination and exclusion and promote an intercultural approach.
