NORTH-SOUTH / SOUTH-SOUTH EXCHANGE WORKSHOP: "HAITI, FIRST BLACK NATION",ON THURSDAY, MARCH 23, 2023 AT 6.30PM
Reach us on March 23, 2023 in the Main Hall of the Centre Placet in Louvain-la-Neuve (Rue des Sports 6) for the Centre Placet's North-South/South-South dialogue workshop, organised in collaboration with CETRI, ARP (The Association of Placet Residents) and Louvain Coopération.
"It occurs necessary for us to talk about the hidden side of Haiti, whose background is little known or poorly known by Europe. It is a question of revisiting major highlights in Haitian history such as the Haitian revolution in 1804 and the War of Independence, which helped to the liberation of other peoples in South America, while at the same time introducing the public to different aspects of Haitian culture through its music and culinary specialities. We will learn more about Haitian history with the two-part film "Toussaint Louverture" to be viewed via the link that will be sent to you by email."
Schedule
- 6.30 - 7pm: welcome
- 7pm - 7.20pm: Feedback on the film, interactions with the audience moderated by Dieuvenson Dieudonné

The encounter is part of a consideration on decolonisation, led by a think tank at Centre Placet, and aims to place it within a thinking on the liberation of peoples from slavery and the conception of independence. It will be followed by a flagship event of the Centre Placet, the independences, with conferences on the thematic "decolonising development", on March 30, 2023, and a cultural celebration of the independences, on June 30, 2023.
